Our friend and colleague for many years, Terry Andrews of Giga Devices has recently completed the London Marathon and wants to share his story with us all. With almost 80% of his target reached, he’s so close to raising £1000 for Breast Cancer Care.
Here’s Terry’s story:
“I have decided to run the marathon again this year in aid of Breast Cancer Care. It is something that is close to my heart due to the fact Kay my wife and all 3 of her sisters, Lynne, Karen and Kim have all been diagnosed with breast cancer in the last 15 years and despite all the major operations and Radiotherapy / chemotherapy they all remain so positive and upbeat.”
Like many, Terry believes it is truly unfair that all the sisters in one family should be dealt this blow but has every admiration for all of them in the way they have coped and battled on without complaint. “They are so strong and courageous and it inspires me greatly, my mere 26.2 miles should be a walk in the park compared to what they have had to endure these last few years” says Terry humbly.
So far, he’s been able to raise almost 80% of his £1000 target and knowing that many out there might still be able to donate gave him a great boost and incentive to get across that finish line in an impressive 4 hours and 10 minutes.
The hard part for Terry is over but he’s still determined to reach his target and is looking for your help. If you’re able to spare a donation, big or small, it would go a long way to helping the 1000s of women in the UK who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
